Multi-purpose tools make greener design

We need to tackle the over-consumerism somehow and buying less is usually a good start. Then comes the better-design of all products in the world, considering carefully the earth friendliness of the product. One of the best approaches to this kind of thinking is designing products from environmentally friendly materials and having multiple functions.

This BasicKnives project from Caroline Noordijk does just that and it does it with style, the shapes and the multiple functions of the knives having the potential to un-clutter one’s kitchen knife-set to a minimum. I personally don’t like petroleum-based plastic (still making recyclable plastic than burning it makes a lot more sense) so I would have the stainless steel-only knife if there’s no wood option for the sides of the handle.

simple, multi-purpose design makes this tool green and wanted
