Waterless washing machine by Electrolux comes back in the news

Back in 2005 this was a concept at the ElectroLux Design Lab 2005 Award and won the competition but it’s only now that we can actually see it materialized into a prototype produced by Electrolux. Using negative ions (as noticed around waterfalls) and compressed air, it cleans clothes without the universal solvent, which is a pretty great idea as the world is starting to grow short of water.
This can get a pretty cool turnaround for washing machines as they tend to use tons of water which is disposed in the nature together with dangerous chemicals from detergents . As everything seems to be getting on the green road it would be cool to have something like that inside of every home. I am not very convinced though on the power consumption as it needs compressed air and a way to produce those negative ions but anyway the fact that it evolves is great.
