Keep the heat outside the window – insulate the windows with water

water glazed windows

Intelliglass, the system that works at the root of the problem, where the heat comes inside

We all like bright rooms. The sun makes us happy, eager to do activities of all sorts but lately all this global warming starts to affect the quality of life in a bad manner. It’s bright but it’s too hot. The energy bill for the air conditioning system skyrockets. There should be some ways of keeping apartments cool and cosy.

Double-glazed windows are ok at insulating, but researchers at the Polytechnic University of Madrid have developed Intelliglass. This window features a layer of circulating water sandwiched between the glass. It absorbs the heat, reducing a/c bills by an estimated 70%. Seems like another kind of a/c to me, as the water must be circulated through the window where it takes the heat and must release it somewhere very much like the fridge works. But perhaps the system is another one and i am not aware of it.

For the quick believers one mention: it’s nowhere to buy yet but they hope to get it to prime time soon.
