Ring! Ring! House delivery!

Bell Travers Willson Architects have taken the house building to a level few have dared to dream. Now you can have your very customized house delivered at the door. Ups, what door? You have just ordered a house to have a door. Perhaps a postal box :)) .
After many technologies that have revolutionized the house building their Digital House provides “a new method of building houses harnessing digital design technology and low volume production methods.”
The Digital House is produced using a detailed 3D computer model that contains all of the construction elements including every wall and screw hole which are pre-determined before the construction. This information is transferred to a CNC Router (Computer Numerical Control) which rapidly cuts out elements in engineered timber. These are assembled into lightweight hollow cassettes like big bricks of Lego, which can be filled with recycled newspaper to achieve a high level of insulation and air tightness.
The digital technology permits building customized parts to any detail, so they avoid prefabricated systems that are criticised for being inflexible in their designs and visually repetitive.
They have opened an exposition to prove their new technology. You can check the digital model and some construction phases below:
The architects have set up a new company, FACIT, to be a one stop shop providing the complete building service from design, planning, and digital production through to on site assembly.
